Colonel Harland Sanders first introduced the iconic pressure cooker in 1939 with the intention to serve customers freshly cooked chicken, faster. The Original Recipe, using the Colonel's world famous secret blend of eleven herbs and spices, was introduced a year later in 1940. The Colonel awards the first KFC franchise to Pete Harman of Salt Lake City in 1952 with a handshake agreement. Since then, KFC (part of YUM! Brands Inc.) has served more than a billion of finger lickin good chicken meals annually to consumers in more than 80 countries and territories around the world.
