★★☆☆☆ The restaurant appeared to be a nice place initially – nice high ceilings, historical building feel, live musician. There only appeared to be on waitress for the weekday night, who was being pulled across the less than half full place. It took a while for us to receive our drinks, and water needed to be asked for. Appetizers were delectable, but the presentation was lacking as all the “dips” had been scooped out from an ice cream scoop. In terms of middle eastern food, the rice was far from the aroma filled white and yellow rice – instead greeted with a mountain dew looking color rice. We’d ordered the mixed kabob grill, and for the price, the kabobs looked like mini appetizers for children, cut into tiny pieces on skewers, surrounded by two not at all pleasant looking patties of beef and chicken. While it tasted OK, the lamb was chewy. We were completely finished eating prior to being asked how it was or if we needed anything. While the suburbs do not offer many options for ethnic foods, this establishment would not be worth the trip again. Posted on October 31, 2014 |

★★★☆☆ This is a mid-price range Turkish restaurant claiming to be halal. The walls are littered with bottles of alcohol, the menu contains items proudly made with red wine (Veggie Casserole, Roasted Lamb) and Romano cheese (good luck getting that halal), all leaving you wondering what the owners' conception of halal is and whether you liked the dish you ordered because it was half made of wine. Parking is free.
This reviewer has been to this restaurant a few times and has decided to stop going. Authenticity issues aside, there is little reason to visit this restaurant for the food: it's reasonably well-made for what it is but is bland and lacking. Given the price, too, overall this restaurant is a poor value.
Next time I want nonalcoholic halal Turkish food, I'll be hitting up Boston. Posted on March 5, 2014 |

★★★★☆ Slmz. Had a lovely meal at Zem Han. We were assured that the meat was halal however they do have a bar and serve alcohol. The food was amazing! We had the falafel, borek (phyllo with cheese filling) and the mixed kebab grill. Everything was truly delicious. Chicken adnan kebab was amazing. Posted on November 17, 2013 |
