★★★★☆ This is a completely halal down-home Pakistani restaurant located in the Kip's Bay/Chelsea watershed zone in Manhattan. The restaurant serves a buffet-style range of Pakistani cuisine. There are enough tables and chairs for groups of 2-6 people, but more than that will find it tight. The setting is highly informal -- you'll be eating off styrofoam. On street parking is available, but you're better off leaving even the diminutive 1989 JDM Honda Acty pickup truck at home.
The food is served buffet style (as are all good South Asian restaurants), so what you see is what you get. This author tried several items on the menu, listed below with the restaurant's description, price, and their review...
+ chicken seekh kabab ($2 for 1) -- ground chicken mixed with onion, ginger, chilies) -- not an award winner but still very good
+ chicken 65 ($8) -- marinated bite sized chicken cooked with salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, ginger & garlic paste -- spicy but a bit on the indistinct side
+ Shaljam masala ($7) -- white turnip cooked with herbs and spices -- turmeric heavy, this could use a bit more of a multi-note taste
+ sada naan ($2) -- plain fresh clay oven baked bread -- excellent
+ chai ($1) -- tea -- simple and plain, right up there with the best cabbie-serving Pakistani restaurants
Overall a great little inexpensive restaurant. Come for the food, not the ambiance. Posted on March 4, 2017 |

★★★★☆ Asalamu Alaikum Waramatullahi Wabarakatuh. This place was open on a Sunday and the br. serving the food was very hospitable. Food was good but it is a very small. fast food type of restaurant. Posted on April 10, 2016 |

★★★★☆ This restaurant does not offer a very good atmosphere but considering the price u pay and portion u recieve, it is acceptable. I have tried various of their dishes and they all taste very good. They also have a restroom. Posted on March 29, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ The food was acceptable but a little on the bland side. It gets really packed after jummuah prayer. And it doesn't look so pretty, but overall I say it's on OK place. Posted on March 17, 2012 |

★★★★☆ We brought back the food from Chandni to Bermuda just so we can enjoy it at home. It's just wonderful. And the portions are huge. We will definitely go back, InsyaALLAH. Posted on April 30, 2008 |

★★★★☆ My husband works in this area and when he doesn't take lunch from home, he eats from there. The rice is good and all the food is freshly made since this is a taxi-cab driver spot so it is quite busy. He also loves the parathas in the morning. I went there with him one night since I love naan and he was raving about the naan. Let's just say the fresh hot naan out of the oven with butter on top was to die for. It was delicious. Overall the food is good and place is well kept. It's good for a quick bite or take out but not for a sit down family dinner. Posted on July 17, 2006 |
