★☆☆☆☆ Very expensive place, not some where you will go and enjoy food, outdated restaurant, better to eat burgers rather then curry, if you have spare cash don't waste at this place Posted on April 2, 2012 |

★★☆☆☆ This place was a bit of a disappointment. Our table wobbled, service was very slow - especially considering that the restaurant was empty, and having our order taken by a gentleman wearing an undervest seemed very unprofessional. The food itself was mediocre at best, and overpriced. The lady who served us was polite, but overall, it was thoroughly underwhelming and is unlikely I'd return here again. ★★★★★ My husband and I went to Apna Cafe on the recommendatioof his coworkers who are serious goodies. We weren't disappointed. The meal was unbelievably good and the service was impeccable--no one hovered at all. We ordered the veggie samosas and aloo tikki to start. Even though these were our starters, the portions were generous enough that I could have eaten that as a meal. My husband got the chicken korma and I got the malai kofta. Both curries were divine. We also ordered the naan--fresh and crisp from the oven. We topped it off with a mango lassi--they used fresh mango chunks and it was delicious. The meal took a little while but this was to be expected since it was all prepared fresh. It was worth the wait. We were told they will soon be starting a lunch express menu where they prepare some of their most popular dishes and have them ready to serve for the lunch crowd.
There are a lot of choices for Indian cuisine in Longwood but this place is unbelievable--you have to try it! Posted on June 28, 2011 |

★★★★☆ It was great food I am new to Indian cuisine, but I think I would go back again and again. The only problem I had was the old lady there she either kept coming at the table to make conversation while we were trying to eat and enjoy a family time together but she kept interfering. If she was not at our table talking she would sit and keep looking at every bite we take in our mouth. She was really creepy making my time horrible, but minus her the rest was good and food tasted great. If I see her sitting there I think I would pass and go to some where else Posted on March 6, 2011 |

★★★★★ Wow, Orlando. You just lucked the heck out. Finally, a fantastic Halal Indian/Pakistani restaurant has arrived in the area! No more mediocre, haphazard Indian cuisine for you.
Take it from someone who used to live in the foodie Mecca that is the San Francisco Bay (Yay!) Area - this place is the real deal. Apna Cafe was recently founded in Longwood (a few minutes north of Orlando ) by a charming family that apparently just moved here from... you guessed it... San Francisco. According to the kind couple who own the joint, their extended family owns several of the busiest Indian/Pakistani restaurants in San Francisco. So again, you Orlando-ians really lucked out; a big, steaming glob of SF just landed in your lap.
Now on to the good stuff. So when my family goes out for South Asian food, we tend to order an enormous quantity of it. So item by item, let me explain to you why you need to get your butt to this place ASAP:
Mango lassi: We all agreed this was the best mango lassi we had ever had. Light, refreshing, and with just the right sweetness. 5/5
Meat samosas: Two huge ones. Overflowing with piping hot, succulent meat. The best samosas we have ever had. 5/5
Mulligatawny (lentil) soup: I personally did not try it, but the rest of my family said it was really tasty.
Garlic and aloo naan: While not exceptional, both the garlic and aloo naans were great. 3.5/5
Peshawri naan: One of my favorites. Filled with fruit; truly delicious. 4.5/5
Chicken biryani: Among the best biryanis I have ever had. Really aromatic. Delicious. 5/5
Chicken tikka masala: Fantastic take on one of the staples of American Indian/Paki cuisine. 4.5/5
Lamb rogan josh: Some of the best rogan josh I have ever had. 4.5/5
Lamb madras: Coconutty and delicious. Don't miss out on this one. 5/5
Chai: This was actually the only letdown of the night. I am pretty sure they mistakenly gave me regular tea rather than spiced masala chai. 2/5
Note: All portions were huge! (biggest I have ever had at an Indian/Paki place). And we ordered everything medium-hot and afterwards reflected that that was the correct choice.
And the icing on the cake was the service. While it did take around 30 minutes for the entrees to come out (due to the fact that only two people were working in the kitchen), the service was otherwise impeccable. A truly charming couple runs the place and they couldn't have been more cordial. They checked up on us several times - always with a smile on their faces - during the course of the night to see how we were enjoying it all [though it was difficult to reply as we were stuffing our faces].
Bottom line: You don't want to miss out on this place. Finally, an actual diamond in the rough of Orlando's Indian/Pakistani culinary scene. Posted on February 27, 2011 |

★★★★★ my sister in law went there with her fiancée and his parents they said the food was great, and that's not true because when we went there i will be honest the food was amazing,it's so delicious,it took sometime since the place doesn't get much people so the chef was working by him self, but at the end it's worth the wait.
