★★★★★ Very beautiful, cozy and quite place in the heart of New York. The meals were also delicious and well served by very friendly waitress. We had our 8th anniversary in it and really enjoyed it after long walks in the central park. Posted on April 16, 2014 |

★★★☆☆ We visited this restaurant on a vacation from Canada. It was a little hard to find since it was below street level so look down! We found the atmosphere really quaint and romantic. The food was okay, the chicken wrap was nothing special and the couscous meal with lamb was not worth the price. Our biggest problem was the service. The waitress (the only employee in the front of the restaurant) paid no attention to us and was busy on the phone in Arabic with her friend, the whole time we were there. We even had to get up and refill our own water. I asked to add peppers to my wrap and she told me it wouldn't taste good, but the cook still did it. The peppers were awesome. I would eat here again, but not for the service. It was nice that they didn't serve alcohol as well. Posted on October 30, 2012 |

★★★★★ I've been coming to Mariachi for 7 years, from when I lived in Manhattan. I went there first because it was so hard to find halal mexican food. Now, I grew up in California, before I became a Muslim, so texmex food is my comfort food, and in Mariachi's early days they didn't do it very well. But I stuck with them because they were the only ones out there. Now I've been working overseas for years and come to Mariachi's every time I'm back in New York, and I have to say they've gotten Texmex down just right! It feels like back home. And the staff has always been eager to please. Posted on May 29, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ The restaurant was very clean but kind of hard to find since the its actually downstairs. The waitress was very kind but not too attentive as my wife had to ask a couple of times for water which was always warm since it was sitting out on the counter with no ice. I had the burrito which had a great cut of beef steak but was a bit dry. The lack of tomatoes, lettuce or a proper portion of sour cream highlighted the problem. I give them an 'above average' for cleanliness, menu diversity, and effort, but only an average for the food itself. Posted on May 11, 2011 |

★★★★☆ This place is the same as the mariachi halal Mexican restaurant. The cool thing about this place is you can order both types of cuisine from the menu. Overall tasty food. Posted on December 27, 2010 |

★★★★☆ Good food and service for the right price. Did I mention Halal? And load of options, both Moroccan as well as Mexican. Posted on December 2, 2010 |

★★★★★ The Marrakesh is extraordinary restaurant that serves the best Halal and delicious Middle East food in middle town
Decor: It has a very charming atmosphere, softly lit with beautiful Moroccan decor. You will certainly feel at home at this cozy restaurant.
The Drinks: Marrakesh offers a wide variety of drinks including an extensive smoothie list my favorite is avocado mixed with mongo
Appetizers: There are many flavorful appetizers at this restaurant, including the falafel which is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and not greasy at all. Served with toasted pit bread and tahini dressing
Entrees: The restaurant has popular dishes such as the kefta kebab whish served hot and freshly prepared
Service: was great the waitress was very patient and helpful knowing we had a big group accommodated us as much as possible our orders came decent time and she ever split all of our bills for us Posted on November 14, 2010 |

★★★★★ I was able to find thsi restaurant thanks to the zabihah.com mobile website. We arrived too early at Serendipity 3 and they weren't open so zabihah.com guided us to this little hidden gem.
The food was excellent. The same restaurant also comes up as Marriachi on zabihah.com list. They have a moroccan and a mexican menu. I have the chicken shish kebab platter and my wife had the chicken fajita platter. Both dishes were amazing. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and don't make their food by using prebought ingredients. The restaurant itself is very cozy and the owners were very nice. Posted on November 4, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ I worked a few blocks from here for around 6 months and ordered lunch from them at least twice a week. So I've tried almost everything they offer. As for the Morrocan menu, it's decent Arab food, but nothing noteworthy. Go with the chicken kebob pita with hummus and babaganoush. If you try the American style wraps on the menu, they're pretty healthy but almost equally bland unfortunately. Chicken Pesto was probably the best of the bunch. As for the Mexican menu, it tastes like it's been cooked by an Arab. Somehow I can't imagine real mexican food is that bland. Even the 7-layer bean burrito from taco bell has more flavor. Try the chicken enchalada if you must. The beans, rice and guacamole are good though - the chicken quesadilla comes with a good amount of those. One rule I must stress about eating here though: avoid anything with beef - regardless of what I got from the menu, the beef was always guaranteed to be chewy/rubbery. Not usable-to-plug-holes-in-your-tire rubbery, but far from tender and unacceptable for the price. Speaking of which, prices on the mexican menu are a bit high, but portions are good. ★★★★★ We went to the mosque on 55TH st and we wanted a close restaurant for dinner, we found this one, it is very close to the masjid.
The food is mainely midle eastern (not morocain exept for couscous), but it is delicious, the staff are freindly, it is very clean, the portions are generous, and the owner offered us tea after the desert ( coz my inlaws were visiting for the first time)
It is very nice inside, and very clean.
If we go back to NY, we ll definively go for dinner there Posted on July 23, 2010 |

★★★★☆ The food is excellent! I introduced some of my colleagues to Marrakesh and it proved a hit! Delivery service takes ages however and it can be a bit pricey. Posted on June 1, 2010 |

★★★★★ I love this place. They serve some of the best Moroccan food in NY. Their couscous is great and every meal must end with the mint tea. The decor is outstanding and the staff is always friendly. A must if in mood for Moroccan. They also serve halal Mexican food aswell Posted on February 5, 2010 |

★★★★★ The food here is very good, especially the chicken couscous. They have improved their decor a lot from before and now it's the type of place I'd invite friends and family to. If you sit by the kitchen though you might hear a computerized sound quite often since they do a lot of deliveries and a lot of their orders are online. But other than that, it's a great place to go to! Posted on December 13, 2009 |

★★★★★ My rating is based on take away food. Markesh and Mariachi are the same restaurant but offers both Mexican and morrocan cuisine. The food was very good and the portion size was very decent. Prices range up to $15 for platters but as I said decent portion size. It is very easy to miss the place as it is in the basement level and not street level. The dinning area is small but clean and decent. The people I dealt with were very nice. They do accept credit cards. Also they do delivery in the local area to. Posted on September 22, 2009 |

★★★★★ We had this restaurant all to ourselves one evening & enjoyed both the Marakesh & the Mariachi menu's! Really nice food & lovely little romantic spot, just under street level. Gr8 for couples. Try not to walk past it, without going down the stairs & trying out something from their menu. Posted on November 12, 2008 |

★★★★★ This place is definitely still in business, I go there every week. It's a bit hard to find as the place is below street level. Excellent food and service. I highly recommend the chicken fajita. Posted on September 28, 2008 |

★★★★☆ Just visited here the other day, we were hungry my wife and I. This restaurant rules, with good food and friendly service. This place is not only HALAL, but it is the only place with two different menus and a MEXICAN HALAL MENU. you have to try it. Posted on June 18, 2008 |

NR I visited New York last week and just a note on location - it is located in a basement and a bit difficult to find. Food was ok but quantity was good. Prices range between $10-$15. If I have to eat on my own, I would go there again. Posted on April 26, 2008 |

★★★★★ The person greets you with Salam. I think it is the best Halal resturant in mid town. The food quality and taste is excellent and the price is very reasonable. A full chicken Platter is $14 after which you will have no more space left to eat. Great Appetizers. The fruit smoothies menu is too good and they have good variet of deserts. I have had food from here many many times and tasted all the varities on offer. Overall the best palce in mid town for Halal food. Posted on April 4, 2008 |

★★★★☆ Yes, this is a very nice place! One of the few halal restaurants with a nice, warm ambiance. You can order off both menus here (Marrakesh/ Mariachi) so it is easy to please crowds. Prices tend to be $10-$15 a head but the menus are very long so you can get by with cheaper if you want. The service was also good and the waiters were happy to customize the dishes - definitely check this place out! Posted on February 3, 2008 |

★★★★★ Marrakesh is an excellent restaurant. The food is delicious, especially the meat platters. The salad is always served fresh and their baklava is yummy. I eat here often and the service is good, the people are really friendly and helpful. The prices are also excellent, especially for Midtown. The setting is very relaxing and peaceful. They also remodelled, giving the place an attractive Moroccan touch. I would recommend this place to anyone whose looking for excellent food at reasonable prices. Posted on April 27, 2007 |

★★☆☆☆ We went here last week during our visit to NY and I have to say I was not impressed with the quality of the food at all. We ate here early evening and were the only customers in the restaurant and they still didn't manage to provide us with good quality food. My husband ordered the mixed grill which was not fresh but just reheated meat pieces and luke warm. I ordered the lasagne which again was luke warm instead of piping hot as it should have been if it was freshly cooked and taken out of the oven. The pasta sheets were not cooked probably and still hard. We went thinking this was the Mexican restaurant as reviewed above and when I asked I was told that it was now Moroccan. I wouldn't recommend this place. Posted on November 27, 2006 |

★★★★★ I even have my coworkers ordering lunch from here. The sandwiches with falafel and hummus along with the succulent chicken or lamb are the favorites! I ate there once and had tasty baklava with turkish coffee too!! Posted on September 4, 2006 |

★★★★☆ Just went to the place last night. It is not super difficult to find, you just have to look for the sign at street level. We ate from the Marrakesh menu and it was Yummy! Meat was well cooked, flavorful as was the hummus, babaganoush and filafil. The place was pretty quiet at 930 at night but we think it is more a carry-out place...delivery is free for a 15 blocks north and south of 53 PLUS all the way to broadway. ★★★☆☆ Assalamu alaikum. The brothers that run and work at this place are very nice, and I don't like saying what I have to about this restaurant. I liked the food, service was not too great, but I'll give them a little credit since they were renovating. The area, at the time I came to eat was small, and very conjusted. Maybe it was because of this renovation that the place lacked good ambience. It was also very cold (inside) when I went to the place in the winter. I however LOVED the food. The prices were good. The meat was done right, and everyone I came with thought it was great food. If I go back and experience something different, I'll be sure to post my findings. I'm guessing this is more of a take-out place, and if I took out, I would have given it a 5. Assalamu alaikum Posted on February 11, 2005 |

★★★★★ Be sure to read the Mariachi review. Same restaurant as Mariachi with two kitchens (one for Mexican and one for Middle Eastern/American).
Middle Eastern side: Very good food and great Falafel (and I am a picky Falafel person). The appetizers and sides are enormous and they give PITA bread with almost everything you order. A side of Falafel is only $3.95 and they give you 10 pieces, 2 pitas and tahini sauce!
The american wrap sandwiches are a little more expensive - but the portions are big and filling. Posted on August 17, 2004 |
