★★★★★ 5 Stars hands down...but with both thumbs up! Tried 3 things on their menu and wasn't disappointed in the least with any of them.
The fried chicken breasts were just perfect. They had a nice thick crust of crispy perfectly seasoned batter. The meat itself was very tender and juicy, and completely cooked through even though they were good sized pieces. This was very important to me. It's an art to cook the meat perfectly without over drying yet make the crust golden brown to perfection. Even 3 hours later when I had a bite of it, the crust still had a crunch and the chicken was still moist and so easy to bite into it felt like it was melting in my mouth (in a good way!). And get this...holding it with my hands didn't drip grease all over me. In fact I barely got any on me....thats frying done right.
The bolani gandana was just right. As an afghan I can attest that it was all around a fabulous bolani. Thin and well balanced with generous gandana, seasoned just right and dipped with the chutney and maast....oh my oh my.
The Texas Cheese Burger was delicious and hit the spot. The sauce was subtle and not overpowering, but worked well and brought it all in balance. The veggies were definitely fresh and it made a differences. The patty was like their chicken, seasoned well and grilled to perfection. Sponge Bob would be proud.
Can't wait to come back and try the other items on their menu! Posted on June 11, 2013 |

NR Fried chicken...who doesn't like that! Well I will say, their fried chicken is juicy and crispy. However, please take the extra step and use seasoning! Something to jazz it up in the flour because it has potential to be great chicken. The philly cheesesteak was good. The tacos were not remotely close to being a standard taco by any means, it was not good. There wasn't even sour cream! I asked the staff, they didn't have any such to go on the boring taco. My husband asked for the taco shell to be the crispy tostada and they gave it to him on soft flour tortilla. The cashier herself gave him the choice to pick between the two and she still gave him the wrong type. I don't think they understand english well, but nice people. I did not enjoy sitting in that type of an ambience either. Posted on November 9, 2014 |

★★★★☆ Been here a couple of times over the last few weeks. Fried chicken has been great. Much better than what I remember from last year. Also had the cheese burger which was very good.
Highly recommend for going with a group. Pretty expansive menu with wings, kabob plates, gyro, and soft tacos. Service has been fine as well. Posted on August 22, 2014 |

★★★☆☆ Greasy, but that is fried chicken for you. If you don't make your own fried chicken, then this will give you the "fix" you need. Stay away from the biscuits, they are chewy. Posted on November 19, 2013 |

★★★★★ Assalamualaikum
I'm so happy that there is a place I can go and get real HALAL chicken, and guess what Its so tasty!!
They recently started using Hand Slaughtered Chicken, and displayed their chicken source on the wall. Very impressive-Hand slaughtered Halal chicken; MashaAllah.
The fries and the wings are equally very very good. Would definitely recommend them. Posted on October 20, 2013 |

★★☆☆☆ I love fried chicken and I was really excited to order chicken from here.
But finding a feather attached to your fried chicken ain't pleasant.
Needless to say, won't be coming back here. Posted on September 18, 2013 |

★★★★★ Wow! Finally a zabihah fried chicken- and it does not disappoint! Fried chicken is excellent and my mother who ate from KFC says its just as good. She and we loved the biscuits ( she says better than KFC). Shrimp and fish excellent as well. Definitely recommend for everyone to try the chicken sandwich( it's delicious). Fries are good. Don't always recommend getting the sides like the coleslaw because they don't always taste fresh. Yet, giving this place five ***** because food is excellent!!! Posted on August 7, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ So i go to this restaurant and ask the lady if they have any reciepts to prove their meat is halal since its my first time there and Id like to be sure.
At first she got annoyed and laughed as to my questioning her integrity. I just told her that I didnt know her so cant just trust her word.
She showed me some stickers on carboard that showed they bought their chicken pieces from restaurant depot from a place that machine slaughters with someone recitng bismillah as they go along. No problem as many ulama say thats halal too.
What irked me and made me decide not to trust them at all was when I asked if everything else was halal and she just said yes everything is halal so i asked where she got the meat from and she said its halal. End of conversation.
So bros n sisters at best it is machine slaughtered chicken and rest of stuff isnt halal and at worst and this is my guess is that the chicken isnt even bought halal at restaurant depot which is why they keep months old stickers on cardboard to show.
I chose to walk away but everyone can make the sound decision on their own. Posted on July 5, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ It was one of the most horrible experiences I have had at any restaurant. First off, the teenage girl who was taking the orders had not decorum on how to talk to customers. When the order was ready, it was totally messed up. I ordered 12 chicken nuggets and there were only 6 of them. I had ordered 2 fish n chips and she gave us 3. The sides and drinks were missing. When I asked her about them, she was like "you didn't get them?". Her attitude was terrible. It was as though she was doing us a favor. It appeared that they were first generation immigrants. They have to realize that it is a different country. She basically ruined our Friday evening. Not going there again! Posted on February 9, 2013 |

★★★★☆ Most Halal restaurants are closed from 3PM to 5PM, but Texas Chicken is not only open, they have the best Fried Chicken and Sandwiches you can get in the bay Area. Try their fried chicken breast sandwich with cheese which you can also have grilled, and you would love them, not to mention their famouse cheesburgers which is made from fresh halal ground beef. and they also cater fried chicken for parties, spicy or not. I love this place and i want it to succeed serving us halal american food. I love it, my kids love it!
the only downd side I found is that if you need more than 20 pcs chicken, you have to call ahead of time, which I understand to keep things fresh. but if that is the case, call them! Posted on January 11, 2013 |

★★★★★ My family and I love eating here, it's the only Halal American food that tastes real American and is halal too, us muslims should support joints like this, it's hard enough to run a restauran, but its harder to keep the halal standard like they do. Sure they have their growing pains, but they are new. They serve the best Fried chicken and cheeseburger in fremont.
I tried the chicken and my kids tried chicken strips and hot wings, we all loved it! Posted on January 9, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Texas Chicken is the most hilariously named restaurant I've reviewed here. Please note: the menu has little to do with Texas, and there aren't any chicken dishes peculiar to Texas.
The night before Ramadan 2012, some friends and I looked for one last hurrah. The meal was merely an appetizer for a late showing of the Dark Knight Rises, and it served its function (as for the Dark Knight Rises, does anyone else think the 1st act's pacing was off?).
A group of friends and I ordered a ton of fried chicken, 40 wings, 6 biscuits, 1 side of potato salad, 1 side of mashed potatoes, some shrimp, and a glass bottle of something green. Before I started eating zabihah, I enjoyed the thick and crunchy crust on a national chicken chain's signature dish. Texas Chicken's chicken is well short of that, but it still packs a solid crunch. My best buddy is a huge fan of wings, and he said he enjoyed the Texas Chicken version a great deal. I sampled a few and wasn't as impressed--but not bad. I also tried the sides, though one in my party wasn't a fan of the gravy on the mashed taters. The biscuits were also a bit of a downer because they seemed like generic varieties of something you'd find in a grocery store freezer. I ate them all the same. Though I didn't sample any shrimp, our party's 10-year-old was all over it without complaint, though he's a good kid who doesn't complain much anyway.
I think ms_kabob_snob was onto something when she wrote that the restaurant will satisfy a fried chicken fix but will do little else. AlhamduliAllah for the food and the money to buy it, but the meal was just okay.
Update: 1/5/2013
I've downgraded my rating from three to one star. The issue is simple: we got one of the fried chicken combos (had chicken and biscuits). The chicken was, as described above, nothing special, but it also wasn't horrible.
What really gets me upset is that the owner told my friend and I that the biscuits were overdone, but they were delicious and fresh. The first claim was somewhere between an all-out lie and a gross exaggeration. Those biscuits were burnt.
The second claim is probably less of a lie. As I've written above, the biscuits were likely frozen and stuck in some oven. If he meant 'fresh' in the sense that he had just pulled them from the freezer and popped it in the oven (microwave, maybe?), then maybe I buy that. But if 'fresh' is meant to mean something more like 'from ingredients combined reasonably proximate to the current time,' then that is absolutely not the case.
The owner should've thrown those biscuits out. By acknowledging that he knew their condition, he demonstrates that he knows he's giving his customer crap. Then he tries to give it positive spin. That remarkably poor business decision not only impacts my respect for his culinary instincts, but it really erodes trust.
I'm kind of ticked about what happened, as you can imagine, but I feel like I've given the facts a fair view, and I've waited 3 days to separate myself from my knee-jerk anger. Posted on January 6, 2013 |

★★★★★ Hallal wow when I heard this place was halal I was very happy and made me very thankful because I love fast food and its so hard to find halal clean food so I went down Last week tried it I dont no where to start but they have the most deliouse food and great custmore serviece best of all its halal and we muslims should really apericate it because now days it not so easy to find halal fast food around bayarea. I recomend this place for people who will really take the time to go and see and apericate the food and the service as well as being halal.
P.S. I would like to say thanks to them for being open even on holidays it shows that they really care about the muslim community to even be open on eid so we can be served halal food Posted on January 3, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ My third time at texas chicken had the best Cheezeburger and I hadnt been here in so long so i was surprised that the taste still is the same and its still Halal mashallah its good to know that they are open with this poor econemy and not allot of our musilms supporting them I was speaking to the boss he was very polite and he said he needs our support so I recommend u guys to give it a try u loove the cheeze burgers I took a star off the music was alittle to loud but i didnt bother asking them to turn it down he seemed like a nice guy if I had asked "they probably would have". ★★☆☆☆ This place has gone downhill. It is not clean inside, and I am not sure whether the food remains halal. The surrounding area includes a liquor store. The bisquits are dry as well. I do not recommend because the restaurant is not clean and the service is poor. Posted on December 23, 2012 |

★★☆☆☆ Went there with some family...the chicken was ok not great not bad either... Wings were nice....coleslaw was said to be made fresh but the chef in my family would heavily disagree... Cashier kinda stared at us while we ate (it became weird and creepy after a point). At least in this experience the food was not worth the money spent! Will try it again hoping that I just went on the bad day(not an excuse btw) Posted on November 14, 2012 |

★★★★☆ I have eaten here and ordered take outs several times. I like the fact that there is a halal fried chicken place where I can go eat. I appreciate the service that I get always at this place. The chicken is not spicy but it is decent tasting. Their side orders are good...the potato salad is better that the mashed potatoes. The biscuits are good. I have alway enjoyed the food from here. ★★★★★ Visited this restaurant last night for first time with friends. Had fried chicken combo with biscuits and a few sides. The chicken was well cooked and tasty (not spicy by desi standards) so just right. Also had the biscuits which seemed a bit stale. Did not try any of the sides. The service was quick and the owner courteous (asked if we needed anything) - which muslim establishment does that! Also they had a large family at the restaurant with kids running around and the owner seemed comfortable with all the commotion. So, good food, and welcoming of families with great service. Will definitely visit again to try other items on the menu. Posted on September 3, 2012 |

★★★★★ Hello,
I don't know what this member (amanayaz) is talking about, Texas Chicken clearlly states on their profile that the chicken is machine cut Halal and the whole menu is totally hala,
its the only clean and halal American food in CA,
this person probably did not speak to the manager,
i have known for a fact that their food is totally halal and the best tasting fried chicken and cheeseburgers in the industry, they get their meat from indus foods and local halal markets,
anyone who has doubt, should speal with the owner to get the right info. Posted on July 9, 2012 |

★★★★☆ I was concerned about the comment of one of the members about the food being Halal here, so i went and asked to see the proof, the guy took me inside their big refrigerator and freezer and showed me the chicken sealed boxes with Halal logo, and their Gyro, nuggets etc., and even fries boxes with halal sign on them!
I felt very comfortable, the food was exellent and if you only eat hand cut, you have to contact the the Halal food community to make the sale of Halal machine cut which i have no problem with, stop across the USA, and see how many halal restaurant will close their doors!
I do other good deeds to compansate for that. if a muslim tells me its Halal, thats Halal to me!!
not fair to force your opinion on others,
I LOVE AND ENJOY TEXAS CHICKEN FREMONT CA Posted on July 9, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ This place is NOT Halal, I asked the person on the counter is the beef and chicken halal and he said yes its Halal, I asked him for the second time it is Zabihah Halal "which means hand slaughtered by a Muslim" and he said yes, after having the meal I told my friend about this place and he said that the owner told him that it’s not Zabiha Halal anymore because it was getting expensive for him and its now "machine slaughtered".
This is cheating there is either Halal "Slaughtered by Muslim or there is Haram" nothing else. End point this guy is a cheater and sells Haram by saying its Halal!
Bottom line this place is HARAM and NOT-HALAL! So should have the sign board displaying halal removed!
I will surely consult a lawyer and make a case against the false HALAL sign board by this cheater has on display! Posted on June 25, 2012 |

★★★★★ I loved this place - excellent food and service. The fried chicken was very fresh, GMO-free and zabiha, tasted great. Very good price for the quality and cleanliness you're getting. The owner and workers were very friendly and attentive to our needs too, that's always a plus :) Posted on June 9, 2012 |

★★★★★ Great food selection... not many halal friend chicken places around. The chicken is juicy and friend right amount of crispy. I found it lacking heat but maybe not everyone likes it as hot as i do. Great prices too.. Posted on June 9, 2012 |

★★★★★ We had the8 piece fried chicken meal. It was yummy. My husband and son said it was the best fried chicken they have had. I also tried the beef tacos, which were also good, but I enjoyed the fried chicken more. They also made extra hot for my husband for a small fee, which was not much. I had wanted to try this place for a while since I love fried chicken and this one is Halal. I was very delighted and look forward to going back again. Posted on June 1, 2012 |

★★★★★ A zabihah fried chicken place that has pretty good fried chicken. What more can you ask for. I drove 30 mins to go here and was not dissapointed. Posted on September 4, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ Great place and yes they get there chicken from local Dist.(Which carries more than one brand) however only Fullerton Valley Farm chickens are hand slaughtered and consider Halal Zabihah. No one could tell me what chicken they serve at this establishment . Posted on July 24, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Texas cheeseburger and fried chicken pieces was decent. They don't give free refills on sodas and you must ask the person at the front counter each time you want condiments, utensils and napkins. This got annoying quick. Posted on July 5, 2011 |

★★★★★ It's new place. finally halal fried chicken. Food was great. fried chicken was awesome , meat was all the way cooked. biscuits were ok.
also ordered Tacos. they were ok too

★★★★★ Any place that as you walk in and let's you have halal fried chicken on your table within 2 min deserves 5 stars from me. had the chicken and the burgers, tasty. really enjoyed the biscuits as well. even saw the indus delivery guys dropping off zabihah chicken, so no halal concerns. ★★★★☆ Verbal assurance from staff that all meat is Halal. Owner's are known Muslims. I went here a couple of times since it opened last week. I tried the chicken gyro sandwich - which was pretty good. The meat was fresh and tasty. But it is not spicy at all. I also tried the hot wings. The chicken wings were undercooked in my opinion, although the hot sauce was spicy and tasted good. On my second visit i tried the Fried chicken and hot wings again. The fried chicken was pretty good. Very juicy and tasty, although not as crispy as I would have liked. The wings again were the same (undercooked), although much more hot sauce this time. Fast and friendly service. Plenty of seating inside. I will have to come back again to try the burgers. Posted on May 17, 2011 |
