HALAL SUMMARY
The owners of this restaurant are Muslim and have confirmed its halal status. Only chicken shawarma and kabsa is Halal.
★☆☆☆☆ Went for the first time, exclusively to eat Kabsa, but was extremely dissatisfied!
First of all not everything on the menu is Halal! Only chicken Shawarma and Kabsa is Halal. Owner should update that here in Zabihah.com and at their Facebook website. Why there is no latest menu available on their facebook is beyond my thinking.
I ordered chicken Kabsa and it came with little basic salad, fried chicken, and plain yellow tasteless rice. I substituted soup with Humous and a very small portion of that came in as well. I asked for traditional garlic sauce and was told that they don't have it. What middle eastern restaurant doesn't have garlic sauce?
Going back to Kabsa, since when the Kabsa chicken is fried? It is always and should be a rotisserie! Also, the rice supposed to be reddish color with raisin, carrot etc. Never ate plain yellow rice if the dish is supposed to be a Kabsa!
I asked the lady behind the counter about the rice and only then was told that the actual Kabsa rice is available only on Saturdays. I also found out that there is a smokey rice that is available only on Saturdays. If that was not enough, I was told that an additional fish related dish is available on Saturdays too! Why in the world are these important information not available anywhere on their facebook? Had I know about these information then I would have come on Saturday!
My friend ordered Gyro sandwich and he said it was alright. I wanted to order that too but of course it was not Halal.
Last but not the least, I asked for to-go menu and was told that they don't have that either and that I can take a picture of their main menu!
Just ridiculous experience overall. I am definitely not coming here anymore! Posted on March 16, 2014
