★★★★★ My wife and I went there recently. One of the best places we have dined recently. Clean restaurant, nice ambiance (decorated with lots of cultural nice items), nice and friendly service, awesome food. Before going there we called and checked about whether any of the meat in the menu was halal, and they said it was 100% halal. We asked agin when we arrived there and they confirmed. Try Iskender kebap (i.e. the Alexander), a Turkish classic, you won't regret.
Update: My friends told me that the staff had told them that they put wine in some of the salads (e.g. the salad that comes with the salmon). Posted on February 5, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ I had a very close friend working at this restaurant. I expressed my feelings and thoughts on this subject to the owner and he assured me that the food is halal but my friend told me, he never saw any box / meat with halal seal so I never ate their meat related meals. As far as I know, their sujuk and kashkaval (cheese) is imported from Turkiye and known to be halal brands so you can ask for a custom meal with sujuk / cheese and vegy combination. But for meat, I would not take owner's or manager's word.
If you don't really care about zabihah / halal, Cafe Istanbul's food is closest to what you would get in Turkiye taste wise.
The price per person for lunch is about $15 (meal + drink w/o tip) and dinner for about $20-25. Posted on October 11, 2009 |

★★★★★ I have been there several times. Great food. They take the traditional food and blend it with modern taste and create new recipes which are some what unique. The place is nice, clean, upscale and reasonably priced. I am not sure if the food is zabihah or not. Posted on October 3, 2009 |

NR Yes, a couple of friends told me that it was not zabihah meat. The owner and managers tell they sell halal meat, but what they mean is that they do not sell any pork or any pork products.
I ate until I knew this, not going there anymore. The food was awesome, though. Will go there for only veggies until they provide zabihah-halal meat dishes.
Website admin: You need to change the sign of this restaurant from "full halal" to "partial halal" maybe. Posted on August 31, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Went there with my parents and wife, then a belly dancer appeared. We left immediately. Would not recommend. They were drinking alcohol shots off the belly dancer......very inappropriate......halal?!? Posted on August 24, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ I recently called them to confirm and spoke to manager / owner? He said they did NOT offer halal / zabiha meat. I asked again to be sure and again he confirmed that they DID NOT offer halal or zabiha meat. Eat at your own risk. Posted on January 17, 2005 |
