★★★★☆ Compared to the other Halaal Chinese restaurants in the South Bay Area, the ambiance is not as good as the others but, its definitely not worth ignoring. It seems they have improved their customer service considerably compared to what I am reading in the earlier reviews.
They are located right besides the Halaal Market. The restaurant is quite spacious. The owners and servers greet you nicely. Once the order took a while to get served, they provided some complementary pancakes and apologized for the delay.
The food is good. I like their Eastern House Pancake Fried Noodle, which is unique and, so far, I did not find it anywhere else in the Bay Area. The food quantity is decent but, once in a while gets greasy. Ma's restaurants (Lundy Ave, and in Cupertino) are our favorites but every once in a while, we do enjoy visiting this place for a change. I would definitely recommend trying this place out. Between Ma's, Darda, Taketomi (Milpitas) and this one, we do enjoy our Halaal Chinese restaurants options and dining experiences in the South Bay Area. Posted on February 8, 2015 |

★★☆☆☆ New Owners, BEWARE! Food is very good but they overcharged us by $20! I liked the old owners better. Service has always sucked but food is tasty. Just be sure to add up the receipt on your own!!! Posted on January 18, 2014 |

★★★☆☆ Very bad customer service, cutlery was dirty and half the time we were asking for more things like water, napkins, soup bowls, spoons, cutlery and drinks. Food was just ok but because of so much distraction we could not even remember what we ate. Posted on April 12, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Went here three times, and was disappointed every single time. The third time was the worst! Their customer service was horrible every time, the foods not that great. This last time I went, we had called in advanced and made a reservation for 13. We waited at our table for a good 20 mins and no one came...though some people at our table even raised their hands=). There was a kettle of tea at the table. Unfortunately our table was broken and so the table top tilted and the tea spilled all over me and my friend. There was tea all over, and still single person came to help. Needless to say, we left without eating anything. We did try and complain to someone, and mentioned the hot tea spilling on people - they just said 'ok'. Anyways, it's not a place I would recommend. There are other Chinese food places close by with better food and much better service. Posted on December 13, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Me and my husband have been to this restaurant twice out of utter desperation as we are not able to locate any halal Chinese restaurant...both of the times our experience had been really bad...the first time the food was a little acceptable but the behavior of the stuff is extremely rude,a waiter was literally scolding an elderly person who was sitting just next to our table with family, since the elderly man was telling him how much quantity to bring etc etc this time (2nd time)the waitress that served us had long dirty nails, the place was stinking and the food was really bad..i wont recommend anyone to go visit this place until someone is really in a mood to waste his/her money. ★★★★☆ Excellent food!!! This is the best Chinese restaurant in the BayArea. We are a regular there. The food has always been exceptional. The staff is friendly and service is great. Posted on October 26, 2009 |

★★★★☆ Went here for lunch today with 2 other people. We had the lunch specials with the Chicken with Hot Chili, Shredded Beef with Hot Garlic sauce and Kung Pao Shrimp. All were good. We also ordered a side of the onion pancakes. Very good. The lunch specials come with rice and soup. Great prices. The service is fast, but not very friendly as most Chinese places. Convenient because it is right next to a Halal Meat and Grocery Store (Halal Meats). Posted on October 22, 2009 |

★★★★★ They are the same people that used to be in Fremont by the name of Eastern Peking restaurant. Great food, especially there lunch special is $5. Good service and huge portions. Will definately recommend. Posted on May 26, 2009 |

★★★★★ This place is GREAT !!! It is very neat, clean, spacious and has excellent service. All the staff are very kind, friendly and caring. The prices are decent and the portions are HUGE !! Definitely your money's worth......The best part is that since this place is only a year old it is not very crowded i.e. there is barely any wait......I strongly recommend this place !!! ★★★★★ We went there for take out. The lady who I guess owns the place is very nice. This is true chinese and is next to the halal market. The restaurant has Halal sign and lots of islamic things inside. I would go here for sure again. Posted on September 18, 2008 |

★★★★★ This is a GREAT restaurant, we've been eating here for years. It recently moved locations and I found the following address on Yelp.com:
1530 S De Anza Blvd
San Jose, CA 95129
I hope the food hasn't changed! If someone has been to the new location please let us all know what you think! Posted on October 21, 2007 |

★★★★★ Excellent food, has been my favorite place to get Chinese for years, only one small problem, they have moved location and no new address listed, anyone know where they have moved to? Posted on May 21, 2007 |

★★★★☆ Food was great and portions were HUGE! The outside of the restaurant even says "Muslim Restaurant". Posted on March 10, 2007 |

★★★★★ This restaurant satisfies a number of requirements for halal eats: 1)It is clean. This is significantly cleaner than Shalimar, although that isn't saying much. 2) The service is very fast- even on a busy evening. I agree that treating the servers with respect is important (no matter where you eat). Calling it a "cultural thing" is simply rude and unfair. 3) The food is good, inexpensive and portioned for 2+ people/dish. Posted on January 27, 2007 |

★★☆☆☆ Food is good but the service is horrible. It is very unhygienic. Better to have take-outs. I would not recommend to eat here with such poor service. Posted on December 5, 2006 |

★☆☆☆☆ I recently went to this place and found an ant in the food. I think they are not clean Posted on November 12, 2006 |

★★★★★ I highly reccomend this place!! I agree that sometimes the service is slow when busy and I believe that the rudeness is just a cultural thing. The best thing about this place is the money compared to portion size! They give HUGE amounts that me and my husband end up eating for days and the price for all that food is pretty cheap. ★★★★★ I think most of the people who complain about the customer service at Peking Eastern House need to calm down! I always receieve THE BEST SERVICE from their staff! The reason why::: I TREAT THEM LIKE HUMAN BEINGS INSTEAD OF ORDERING THEM TO BRING THINGS FOR ME! I've been with friends who compalined about Eastern house, but I realized that they were the problem. It is also a cultural thing! Stop hating and enjoy the food! Posted on December 5, 2004 |

NR I've been to this restaurant since it was open in Santa Clara and moved to 3 locations [the latest in Fremont]. I know that the owner is Muslim. He buys meat from Medina Market [not the one that is next to it, but on the opposite side of Fremont]. Posted on November 18, 2004 |

★★★★☆ We have been going to Peking Eastern House for a while, and have never experienced rude service. The service can be slow when they are busy, and they dont bring you water unless you ask for it, but I've noticed this in other Chinese restaurants.
As for the food, we like it better than the other Halal Chinese restaurants. It is not necessarily of the highest quality but it is definitely good. Posted on September 23, 2004 |

★★★★☆ The food is good, though it is greasy [I've had better zabihah chinese food elsewhere]; though this place is easily the best Chinese place in the Bay area, its service is easily the worst. Most of the staff can barely speak English, and on my last visit, the waitress was upset at one of my guests for simply asking for a glass of water, napkin, and cutlery (they gave him a plate, but forgot the napkin, water, and cutlery). So if you can ignore all of this and can deal with greasy but tasty food -- as I can -- this is the place for you. (btw, I've been there at least a dozen times) Posted on March 28, 2004 |

★★☆☆☆ I used to eat at this place all the time. Lately, I have went back a few times, and the food has been horrible. I don't know what it is! Perhaps they hired a new cook? I am not sure. The food is definetly not as good as it used to be. Posted on March 5, 2004 |

★★★★★ I went there when they were in Milpitas. The food was excellent. I love greasy food!!!!! Posted on February 21, 2004 |

★★★★☆ I go to Peking once or twice every month. The food is great but the service can definitely improve. I can never tell whether the manager and the waiters are simply talking or screaming at each other. Otherwise like I said its good food at a very reasonable price. Posted on February 20, 2004 |

★★★★★ I come here at least once a week. I do respect all of the critic's opinions here -- but i must say most likely it is not worth much since you haven't been to the establishment enough to posit an honest opinion. I have been going here since they were in Milpitas and Campbell for the last 15 years (with the same owner, staff and chefs). the food is absolutely fantastic and Consistent. It is very tasty food. so if you think the food is "greasy" or you don't like the "service" after going only a few times, please do not critique. I will admit service is a bit slow when busy which is expected -- the good news is that they are always busy which means the food is good. Having frequented this restaraunt (in all 3 different locations) for the last 15 years -- not less than 24 times a year, OR approx. 360 times total, I would say that this restaurant has excellent food, it is tasty, the service is good and the portions and price are spectacular. For all you one-hit wonders, please save your critiques for another restaurant that you have been to at least 10 times! Posted on January 25, 2004 |

★★★★★ We used to travel great distances to come here. They have the best hot and sour soup in town. Their #1 for 1 is enough to feed 2 and is a great meal at around $15 (for 2) Posted on November 10, 2003 |

★★☆☆☆ I have eaten at this place a few times before but I just ate there recently and have to say that the quality of food has decreased significantly. I ordered a beef and chicken dish and I have to say I couldn't tell the difference in what I was eating. Sorry but I seriously doubt I am going back to this place. Posted on November 6, 2003 |

★★★★☆ I really like their Chinese hamburger and lamb skewer and they were better than the one I ate in China. The service is O.K. though. If you like authentic northern Chinese Muslim Food, you got to try this place Posted on May 2, 2003 |

★★☆☆☆ "ok -what are you people thinking??? the food is good-hahahahahahaha ya right. the food is totally covered in this really thick layer of msg and that stuff is really bad for your body. you're poisoning your body, seriously i don't want to die young. and their food is okay but once you taste real chinese food , you're like ""why have i been eating this junk-real chinese is a lot better"" and real chinese food doesn't have msg. so people learn how to make your own chinese food. and the service isnt' that great-the servers don't even speak english that well so that doens't help people with the very very thick indian/pakistani accent. so ya-i'd rather eat old mehran food than eat this crappy chinese food. ★★★★★ The food at Peking Eastern House was excellent! The chow mein is tasty and the sweet and sour chicken was great. There was a ton of variety on the menu. This is what you call great quality chinese food. The service was fast and the food came within a few minutes after ordering. The only thing i didn't like was that there was no free drink refills. Besides that everything else was great. Posted on April 19, 2003 |

★★★★☆ I found this muslim chinese restaurant by asking a brother at the Irvington masjid. Alhamdulillah they have a banner outside proclaiming 'Muslim Chinese Cuisine'. I found the food comparable to Darda restaurant in Milpitas. Posted on September 16, 2002 |

★★★☆☆ Been going there since a kid, and can let you know that the food is good, but the service is very bad. While eating dinner, you can hear the chef, the waiters and waiters, and owners, yelling, talking, and whatever else, so loudly! Posted on October 31, 2000 |

★★☆☆☆ I just called the previous location of this restaurant (on Calveras Blvd. in Milpitas - 408-263-2228) which has changed to a new owner, and no longer serves Halal food. Posted on July 19, 2000 |

★★★★☆ This restaurant may be familiar to Bay Area Muslims, it re-located to Fremont from its previous location in Milpitas. Staff is very friendly and service is excellent. The food is Halal and the taste and quality are very good and reasonably priced. The restaurant is located on the same block as Tri City Sporting Goods. Posted on August 10, 1999 |

★★★★☆ A good Chinese restaurant that is open 7 days a week. The restaurant displays a certificate from the famous "Pakistan Market of San Jose" that claims that all beef, chicken, and lamb are guaranteed zabihah. I am not sure if they serve any meat other than beef, lamb or chicken (if they do probably you need to ask if it is zabihah). Posted on June 5, 1999 |
