★★★★★ Got there at 915 (closing time 930) - they were more than happy to serve us and ended up staying till 1015! As the other comment says, the owner, Jason (really nice guy) says that all the chicken is halaal but that the shredded chicken is cooked separately. No certificates on display but he offered to check the packaging of the chicken for us to show that it was all certified. In the end we went with the veg to be on the safe side (I was confident it was fine but my sister is extra cautious). Food was amazing! Have never had such good Mexican food, even in the US. Prices very reasonable, staff and owner very friendly, would recommend their ice cream (some flavours made in store, others Haagen daz).
I would add that the owner Jason (not a Muslim) was really good in making sure that we felt comfortable about halaal-ness. He asked us about Islamic rules regarding ice cream as he's recently started making it in store. I also mentioned the hmc and hfa to him and told him to check them out online.
Also: no alcohol served at all and they're opening a new branch in blackfriars in a few months they said.
Restaurant small, only a few tables and only open late wed and thurs so call ahead!

★★★★★ I popped in there as I was around the corner.
It's a little bit hidden away but you can't miss it with that logo.
Small place but it has that cosy feeling.
Staff were very helpful.
I was recommended steak so I asked of it was Halal they said no but the chicken strip is.
'De ja vu' from reading previous reviews.
I ended up with a burrito and I can highly recommend it , especially the guacamole.
It seems pricey for what you get but let me tell you, it's filling and it's all fresh and healthy.
Will certainly re visit when am near there again. Posted on December 11, 2013 |

★★★★★ Halal: Spoke to the owner, Jason. Has certificates. Chicken only halal and clearly stated. Shredded chicken is cooked in seperate pan/process entirely and never cross cooked with anything. Ask if any queries and he is more than happy to clarify.
I googled this place and checked out trip advisor. Said to have giant but fast flowing queues at lunchtime. I had to check it out.
Now. Listen carefully - The guacamole and burrito is out of this world!! The guacamole is spicy, flovoursome and sensational. The owner lives and breathes Mexican food and was happy to talk about his place and journey thus far. It's a small place with say 8 seats. Mostly takeaway. But well worth the trip. Something really different but done well. Passionately well.
Guacamole is tasty, spicy and morish. Never had anything like it. (Normally wherever else its been green, bland and pointless.) You'll want to take some home guaranteed. Bring space in your hatchback boot.
The burrito portion is generous to say the least and packed with a Mexican fiesta thats makes you want to do the pichanga.
They are now beginning to opening in eve 4.30-9.30 too. If you have never had decent burrito or guacamole or think its nothing too special, then try this place. I dare ya to not love it. Es muy bueno!!! ;) Posted on July 1, 2012 |
