★☆☆☆☆ I work in Bellevue downtown and am a regular at the place at lunch time. Food is ok and I have never had much problems with my order but for the last time.
I ordered a chicken biryani as I always do, took my number and stood near the entrance door waiting for my order.
The biryani is fairly quick but after waiting for over 15 minutes I was still waiting. I attributed it to the place being a little crowded than usual.
When it was around 25 minutes of wait time I went up to the counter and asked for my order, only to be told that there is no order of biryani lined up. I remained patient as the kitchen got my order made.
A couple minutes in an older gentleman at the counter calls my order number and says that my order had already been served, I am lost for words for a moment then show him the receipt and he says I quote: "I already called that number and someone took it, where were you?"
I am standing there in disbelief and tell the guy I have been standing in the restaurant the whole while and did not hear my number called and I had the receipt with the order number. To which the guy responds we dont ask for the receipts so you could've easily eaten your order and claiming another one.
I would go through this whole drama for a 9$ plate of biryani? Are you kidding me with this? Forget listening to your clientele this guy is accusing me of asking for something I haven't paid for.
The regular cashier who is standing behind this guy and knows me as a regular is trying to calm this guy down but no, he is sure that I am trying to get a free meal out of this. Guess the guy was the owner of the place.
I have never had such an experience anywhere in the world and Gyro Express would have been the last place I would've thought of doing this but this was very very disappointing. For restaurant owners to treat paying customers like this, I mean know your customers and the area you operate in? Why would an office going clientele that is regular try to do this?
Would not recommend this place. Posted on October 21, 2017 |

★★★☆☆ be wary, quality varies by the day:
from poor to excellent.
Value for money is always great, servings are generous.
The restaurant is a little shabby. Posted on December 18, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ I personally know one of the workers here. The ONLY thing that is halal is the gyro meat - so NOT the chicken NOR the lamb that is not gyro-meat. The workers are instructed to tell customers it is halal (fortunately my Muslim friend who works there will not do this, but the non-Muslims working there will). It's so sad. The sign on the store says "100% halal" which is a lie. They should fear Allah t'ala. The same Muslim owner also owns the Indian buffet near it where they DO sell alcohol and none of the meat is halal. This restaurant needs to be REMOVED from this website. Posted on May 29, 2012 |
We will look into this. In the meantime, can anybody else confirm for us? |

★★★☆☆ I didn't see any beer there. I think the previous reviewer might have mistakenly looked at the beer signs in the restaurant next door, which also sells Indian food, but is not halal. Please verify with the restaurant.
Nevertheless, the food is average. We had a chicken Shawarma sandwich and a chicken boti roll... They tasted almost the exact same. The only difference was that the shawarma seemed to be doused with cinnamon. this place may be convenient if you work in downtown Bellevue, but I would not go out of my way to eat here. ★★★☆☆ Nice food. reasonable price. nice location. very close to major hotels (hyatt, westin etc.) and right next to the Bellevue transit center. They sell beer, so clearly it is not alcohol free. Please change that in the quick facts. Posted on June 30, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Very friendly staff, 100% Halal sign in window, odd mix of Indian food with gyros.
Chicken tikka masala tasted good, but a little creamy. Posted on November 18, 2010 |
