★★★★☆ I had lunch here sometime ago. Place is very small, but decor and ambiance perfect for Afghani/Persian food restaurant. Kabobs are very good, service is very personable. I will be back, and recommend to others also. Posted on February 22, 2013 |

★★★★★ Absolutely excellent. This was the first time I tried afghan food since we don't have many afghan restaurants in Chicago. Excellent excellent customer service. I'm a regular for sure. Posted on June 13, 2012 |

★★★★★ ASA,
I would agree with an earlier comment about the place and the owner. This is by far the best Afghan food I have tasted. The owner was very nice and humble.
The place is small but very well kept. You are greeted with a nice cup of tea (Kawa), followed by a very well presented and absolutely delicious meal.
I was throughly impressed and will definitely go back to the restaurant again. A must go place when you are in Berkeley.
Very highly recommended! Posted on June 3, 2012 |

★★★★★ Excellent bolani, mantu, aushe and kabobs! Everything is fresh and flavorful and customer service was good too. The only down point is the small size and tight seating Posted on April 11, 2012 |

Come on reviewers, be fair! This is some of the best Afghan food I have had in a restaurant which a) is openly halal (the sign on the door), b) does not serve alcohol, 3) that is open during Ramadan, 4) has amazing customer service and 5) is actually Afghan food, not Mediterranean or Pakistani, but Afghan.
My friend who went to Berkeley suggested this restaurant and I fell in love. I have lived with Afghan roommates back in college and their families cooked for us, so I know authentic Afghan food and this is it and it is amazing.
First, the owner, he is not rude at all, but MA one of the most nicest owners, who also serves customers, I have met in a long time. During summer of 2010, when I was living in Berkeley for an internship, I went there almost every weekend and sometimes during the week. He started to recognize me with my fiance and he would give us tea. So sweet.
Also during Ramadan, dates are served with the food. It is the little things that count and hands down this is my favorite restaurant in Berkeley and one of two of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. Sorry, but I have been to the aforementioned restaurant in Fremont and it is not as flavorful and the service is not as warm. The one thing that that restaurant has going is that it is big so it can accommodate bigger parties.
The meat is so tender. Usually I do not order any type of meat cubes fearing they will be tough, but not here. Also they are seasoned so well. The bolani has an interesting twist with pumpkin when it is available. There is also brown rice and it is wonderful too. My mother really loved the chapli kabaab. Really the food here is amazing and the owner is nice! Posted on January 12, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Good enough, but not great. Kabuli Pulao, Bolani, Chapli Kabob - all the standards are worth trying, but not as good as you might find at some restaurants in Fremont. Posted on September 25, 2011 |

★★★★★ Nice owner, delicious food. My favorite is kabili pilav. Posted on September 15, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ Rude owner. Food was just average. Posted on September 27, 2010 |

★★★★☆ This is a very small restaurant with limitef seating. However it seems clean. People are friendly. I had the Combination kebap which was pretty good. My wife had chicken Korma which was quite bland. Posted on January 1, 2010 |

★★★★★ I was visiting San Francisco, and someone I met at Friday prayer told me about this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was unbelievable and the staff was friendly. Posted on July 25, 2009 |

★★★★★ We have eaten here a number of times over the last few months, and each time the food and service have been excellent. Chaplee kabob is a favorite, as well as the mantoo. Very clean place, and great service. Posted on June 16, 2009 |

★★★★★ I had a variety of dishes with some friends on a trip to the area, all were very good and authentic. The restaurant is quite small, but the people working there are extremely hospitable. All in all a good experience. Posted on March 7, 2009 |

★★★★☆ I tried the beef and chicken combo plate, as well as the ground sirloin plate. Excellent meals, excellent portions. The staff is very friendly. I will definitely be going back (in sha' Allah)! Posted on February 14, 2008 |

★★★☆☆ The food quality has deteriorated recently and the food was greasy despite a special request to keep the grease out. The service was not very good, and there were stains on the glasses. Posted on January 1, 2008 |

★★★★★ This establishment has excellent food and service. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They made you feel at home. You gotta try this place. Posted on August 25, 2007 |

★★★★★ Delicious food and outstanding service. The food has tremendously improved after the change of ownership. Their Paya and Nihari is to die for (which are not on the menu - served as "Today's special"). The free tea is awesome. Very reasonable prices. They also serve burgers and wraps which come in handy when dining out with kids. Posted on July 27, 2007 |

★★★★★ Excellent food and service. The place has been open for one week now. It is clean, and the staff is friendly. I tried the chicken biryani, seekh kabab and vegetable curry. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. Masha'Allah. Posted on March 30, 2007 |
