★★★☆☆ My family visited this restaurant last night, and based on the posting here, we didn't know it wasn't owned by Muslims.
The owners are Hindu, but they did confirm via telephone that all their meet is zabihah.
When we arrived, I asked the owner if this location was owned by Muslims, or just serving Zabihah meet for Muslims because we still weren't sure just yet.
He said that they weren't Muslim, but have Zabihah meat, and if we'd like, he would be happy so show us the certificates for their purchase.
A while later, I was walking by the counter, and our waiter showed me two boxes in the cooler, and asked if I would like him to pull them out and read their labels showing they were zabihah meat. I said no thank you, it was ok, and he said that all the meat comes from a wholesaler in Rancho Cucamonga.
So, all in all, we did feel comfortable that the meat was either Zabihah, or it was vegetarian.
For the food...
I would say it was good, but I wasn't raving about it. The naan was good, the samosas were yummy enough.
We all tried Chicken Tikka Masala, BBQ Chichen Tandoori, Chicken Biriyani, and also the Vegetable Kabob in a cream sauce.
It was all good - but not sure if it competes with Nooranis in Anaheim :)
But it wasn't super greasy like the rice at Grill Masters - which we really appreciated. The plain basmati rice is just PLAIN which we like, allowing the sauces to flavor the rice.
Ambiance..
We were the only people there most of the time...the tables are simple, covered with white table clothes that slide easily. So careful with little ones.
It was quiet, which we liked, and mid-way through our visit, they turned on the two TVs on the wall, playing Indian Music videos. NONE of which are appropriate for Muslims to watch, let alone our children to see.
I asked if they had satellite channels, and had something kid friendly (because at this point, two other people had come in to dine) but he said it's a DVD.
Unfortunately, lots of "ethnic" places set the mood with music videos...even Muslim places.
They apparently have a lunch buffet - so might be worth checking out if you are in the area. Posted on January 8, 2014 |
