★★★★★ I can not give a rating of the food quality right now because I have not tasted the food yet, but I called Air Canada, and this is as of 7:00 PM, 20-12-2017, and they have confirmed that the meat and poultry for the "Muslim meal" is 100% halal certified. They have also mentioned they can't guarantee the meal being cooked in a halal space, that is, using different areas to cook if pork or something like that is being prepared as well. But they guarantee there is no pork or Alcohol in the meal that is prepared and served. Posted on December 20, 2017 |

★★☆☆☆ They have something called the Muslim meal, but it must be ordered ahead of time so that they will have it on the flight for you.
If it is meat I read on their website that the specifics of the "Muslim" Meal are simply that it contains no pork, venison, or alcohol. There was no mention of halal meat.
Most airlines have the same sort of specifics. That's why they call it a "Muslim" or "Moslem" meal and not a "Halal" meal.
I stay on the safe safe and just request the vegetarian meals when I fly.
However, they usually just give a vegetarian meal. Posted on August 2, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ I have family that work for the suppliers of "Halal" food to Air Canada flights.
They have recommended NOT to order this option. If meat is contained it usually is NOT halal. They just put a label on the meal.
Your best option is to get the Asian Vegetarian option. Posted on July 30, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ Yes they do have a "muslim" option but it may just be the vegetarian and no meat depending on which region you are flying out from. Airline food is bad anyway. This is average. Posted on November 26, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ I've travelled via AC a few times and I've always had bad service.....Anyway I have never had the Halal food because they never have the option of Halal, only option is the Asian vegetarian meal which is pretty disgusting, it consists of boiled rice and veggies. They've also messed up my meal request a couple of times and once I did not even get a meal. Posted on November 26, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ I have never tried their pre-ordered "halal" meal. Usually there is a vegetarian and/or seafood dish available on each meal. I was marginally satisfied with my meal, definitely fit the category of plane-food. Their snack option of a veggie (or non-zabihah meat if you prefer) pastry is filling and great. ★☆☆☆☆ Terrible halal menu that is not intended for humans. Very degrading to serve such "food" labeled as "halal". Now I don't request special menu and prefer to have what's being served, sometimes its seafood or cheese pasta, which is at least eatable. I wrote a complaint letter to Air Canada and I recommend that everyone who dislikes their halal menu should do the same. Posted on October 18, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ I ordered a 'halal' meal in 2006 and they served a crappy vegetarian meal. reading the comments in this site they clearly do not know what 'halal' means. I refuse to fly with Air Canada for other reasons as they do not let you preselect window seats in advance. Since then I have flown on Alitalia and Lufthansa and ordered Kosher meals with no problems. It has all the hebrew and english writing to verify the meat is kosher. Posted on May 27, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Air Canada seems to be of the opinion that "halal" is the same as "Hindu veg." I recently flew round trip to London from Chicago. On the flight from Toronto to London, they messed up my meal, so they had to give me something from their first class (or business class, or whatever they call it). It was a pasta dish, and was "okay." On the return flight, I was given Veggie Curry with couscous for breakfast, and it was unedible. By the time the snack was passed out, I was very very hungry! It was a pita bread with mixed veggies and humus. That was actually rather tasty. Overall, I was disappointed with their choice of foods, though. "Halal" is NOT "vegan!" Air Canada seems to think that it is. InshAllah, I hope to never fly Air Canada again for anything farther than Chicago to Toronto! Posted on March 4, 2008 |

★☆☆☆☆ Agree with sameer786. A few months back, there was an article in the Toronto Star which showed that Air Canada does not know what Halal food is. So if they are saying it's Halal, they think that it means no pork/alcohol. Posted on October 16, 2006 |

★☆☆☆☆ Brothers and sisters please think before you eat the food thinking that it is halal/zabihah. I made inquiries to verify the authentication, and was astounded by the response that I received from Air Canada customer services. I was advised that according to Air Canada, halal/zabihah is defined as no pork and/or no alcohol. Posted on January 13, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ had the kosher meal, it was a bit too light for a long flight, LHR-YYZ. Posted on August 30, 2005 |

NR When ever I travel, I always take a sandwich with a snack that I can eat, even if I asked for halal food. Sometimes there are delays and the airport does not have much choices either. Posted on August 24, 2005 |

★☆☆☆☆ I give air canada's food a ONE STAR rating because on the way to Toronto, my dad had gotten the muslim vegetarian meal, and they served this diced potato stuff with eggs with chili. On the side the put this spinich mound stuff with mushed carrots or tomatoes or SOMETHING on the top! And the mandarin oranges they served were FROZEN!!! And on the way back, they served rice that was hard and grainy... they also served this bean salad stuff(there was no spinich... just some beans and more beans). The only thing good about the meal back was the bread roll. But allhamdullillah, I got food when thousands of other people in the world didn't. Posted on August 19, 2005 |

★★★★☆ I liked the halal meals we were served on Air Canada (I concur that the food was better from London, where they probably have better caterers). The muslim meals came with a halvah that I could not get enough of! They let me take a few with me when I left. Posted on September 21, 2004 |

★★★★☆ Just to point that Air Canada serves alcohol, (icon is missing), And personaly I doubt that they serve Halal. Posted on January 24, 2004 |

★★☆☆☆ We didn't take the Muslim meal but instead the "Asian Veg. Meal"; tasted terrible on the flight from Toronto. Some sort of pasta . But the return flight from London had good food. Seems Air Canada has better Asian caterers in London. We were dissapointed knowing that "Asian Veg. Meals" are usually pretty good. Posted on January 15, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ Muslim meals are served but you have to inform your travel agent when you buy the tickets. The salmon piece was big but tasted like soap and it had some sweetened tomatoes on the side. They gave out snacks which were called gourmet fried onions (something like that). It tasted awfull.
Overall, the meal was bad but the breakfast was okay.
On our way back though, the food served was okay. Posted on January 3, 2004 |
