Description: The Muslim Food Board (U.K.) was established in 1992. It is an independent, non-profit organisation serving Halaal consumers and industry throughout the U.K and Europe, providing Halaal certification for food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. There are about one and a half Million Muslims in the UK and over 1.6 billion world-wide. The commonality between all Muslims is that they must only consume Halaal products. Due to the fact that it is virtually impossible to establish whether a product is Halaal or not simply by reading the ingredients, Muslims in the UK and Europe found it very difficult to buy only Halaal food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. The investigation and certification of products can be a complex task and it was evident that a formal organisation to tackle such tasks was needed. The Muslim Food Board (UK) was established to formalise the investigation and certification of food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. The Muslim Food Board (UK) enjoys the recognition and endorsement of numerous organisations worldwide, including (but not limited to): JAKIM – Malaysia, MUI – Indonesia, MUIS – Singapore and WHFC – World Halal Food Council.
